Teachers and students access Study Island @ http://www.studyisland.com

Teacher Accounts:

  • All Language Arts, Reading, and Math teachers have been issued Teacher Accounts.
  • Returning teachers should use the same Study Island Username and Password as last year. If you have forgotten your Username, you will be given this at your September 24th Content Meeting.  You may request a Password reminder or reset through the Study Island website.
  • New teachers will be given their Study Island Username and a temporary Password at the September 24th Lang Arts/Reading, Math, or Special Ed Content Meeting.
  • See the section below regarding Student Accounts
  • See the RESOURCES section below for instructions on creating classes, implementation ideas, training materials, etc.

Student Accounts:

  • Last year's 6th and 7th graders have been promoted to grades 7 and 8.
  • Accounts for new 6th graders have been added.
  • Students log into Study Island with their BCPS Username and External Password. This information and the Study Island URL are already listed on their Student Computer ID Cards, which all students should have in their binders.
    • In a few cases, student Usernames were already taken; in this case, a numeral 1 was added to the student's BCPS Username.
    • If a student has trouble logging into Study Island, teachers should access the Passwords List in Study Island to look up the student's logon information.
    • New students will be added to Study Island by Kelly Ray as they are enrolled. Teachers can then add new students to their classes. Contact Kelly Ray if you have a recently enrolled student who does not yet appear on the Passwords List in Study Island

Math Classes

  • As directed by the Math Dept. Chair, selected Math classes have been scheduled for Study Island and Fraction Nation in Computer Lab 59:
    • Every other week on Fridays during the 1st quarter beginning Friday, October 5th
    • Every week on Thursdays or Fridays during quarters 2-4.
    • Please check the Computer Lab 59 Reservations Sheet on the Shared drive in the Library Media Center & Computer Labs folder for the scheduled dates for your classes
    • If you do not intend to use the Lab on a scheduled date, please REMOVE YOUR NAME from the Reservations Sheet as far in advance as possible to allow other teachers to use the Lab time.
  • Special Ed Classes should schedule Lab 22 for Study Island and Fraction Nation.

Language Arts/Reading Classes

  • Language Arts and/or Reading teachers should schedule classes to use Study Island on a regular basis in Computer Lab 59 (regular ed) or Lab 22 (Special Ed) as directed by your Department Chair.  No regularly scheduled classes (weekly/bi-weekly, etc.) are permitted in the Library Lab/Mini Lab, which are needed for student research throughout the year. Occasional use of Library Lab/Mini Lab for Study Island is OK if the schedule is open and Lab 59 is unavailable. You may also schedule the Netbook Mobile Lab if your class is 24 students or less.
  • If you do not intend to use a Lab on a scheduled date, please REMOVE YOUR NAME from the Reservations Sheet as far in advance as possible to allow other teachers to use the Lab time.
